The Great wall of China was built between the 5th century BC and the 16th century to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire.
The great Wall is the worlds longest building structure approximately 6,400 km (4,000 miles) The Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
The Great Wall of China is not a continuous wall but is a collection of short walls that often follow the crest of hills on the southern edge of the Mongolian plain.
The Great Wall of China, known as "long Wall of 10,000 Li" in China, extends about 8,850 kilometers (5,500 miles).
The Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus.
More than 2000 years of History, some of the sections are now in ruins or have disappeared, represents a main part of Chinese history.
The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China in part to protect the Chinese Empire.
Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century BC; these, later joined together and made bigger, stronger, and unified are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall.
